TfL Project Guardian

Your secondary school may be selected to take part in one of our specialist secondary school sessions. They aim to increase awareness of sexual harassment on public transport.

The session is a sensitive and engaging one-off workshop that covers:

  • Bad behaviours on public transport
  • Being an active bystander
  • Reasons for reporting
  • Info on the different ways to report sexual harassment

This workshop is aimed at Year 9 students and is offered at no cost to schools in identified priority areas.

The London Transport Museum delivers the sessions and they're not on general offer. The school will be contacted if they have been selected.

How does it work?

Our experienced school liaison officer will set expectations. They'll engage the students in many ways. These include film clips, real stories, and CCTV images. They'll also give the students chances to discuss and take part. We also have a police officer who can answer questions and give more information.

Sessions are adapted for each audience to ensure the best learning experience. Audiences are limited to about 60 students. We limit group sizes to help us manage the dynamics and encourage greater participation from the students.

We have experience delivering in mainstream schools and in other specialist providers, like Catholic, Jewish, and Islamic schools, as well as SEND and AP schools.

The workshop fits with your broader PSHE, RSE, and Citizenship provision. It complements your work to support DfE guidance on 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'.

The issues featured in a TfL Project Guardian session would stand alone as part of your school's proactive safeguarding work.
