You can pay for up to three previous days, today or any day up to 90 days in the future. The daily charge is:
£100 for vans or specialist diesel vehicles (over 1.205 tonnes unladen weight up to 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight) or minibuses (up to 5 tonnes) which do not meet Euro 3 standards.
£100 for HGVs, lorries, vans and specialist heavy vehicles over 3.5 tonnes as well as buses/minibuses and coaches over 5 tonnes which do not meet Euro VI (NOx and PM) standards, but meet Euro IV (PM)
£300 for HGVs, lorries, vans and specialist heavy vehicles over 3.5 tonnes as well as buses/minibuses and coaches over 5 tonnes which do not meet Euro IV (PM)
If you drive within the zone, you have to pay before midnight of the third charging day following the journey.
Fail to pay on time and you risk getting a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). To see if and what you need to pay, check your vehicle. Or find out about discounts and exemptions.
If you register for Auto Pay, and drive a registered vehicle which does not meet the LEZ emissions standards within the zone, you will be automatically charged.
You can also pay the Congestion Charge, Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels charge, and ULEZ charge this way.
If you would prefer not to set up Auto Pay, you can pay the LEZ charge for the three previous charging days, today or any day up to 90 days in the future online.
Don't pay through unofficial websites which may mislead you. You should always pay LEZ charges with us on our secure online system. Read more on avoiding payment fraud.
Yes, if you know in advance which vehicles will be driven within the LEZ on which days.
If you intend to drive within the LEZ, you should check with your hire company that the vehicle meets emissions standards. If it doesn't, and the hire company hasn't made an arrangement to pay the daily charge, you'll need to pay it.
Remember, the LEZ is not the same as the Congestion Charge zone in central London and the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ). The Congestion Charge operates 07:00-18:00 Mon-Fri, 12:00-18:00 Sat-Sun and bank holidays. No charge between Christmas Day and New Year's Day bank holiday (inclusive). The ULEZ operates 24 hours a day, every day except Christmas Day (25 December). If you drive within either of these charging zones during these times, you need to pay them even if you meet the LEZ standards or have already paid the LEZ daily charge.
Heavy goods vehicles, vans and other specialist vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW), as well as buses, minibuses and coaches over 5 tonnes GVW that meet the new Euro VI (NOx and PM) standards already in operation in the ULEZ, will not have to pay an additional ULEZ charge. The Euro VI (NOx and PM) LEZ emissions standard will be a London-wide requirement.
If you drive through Blackwall or Silvertown tunnel during charging times, you need to pay every time you cross unless your vehicle is exempt.
If you drive an HGV over 12 tonnes in Greater London at any time you will also need to apply for an HGV Safety Permit. A penalty charge notice will be issued to vehicles without a permit.
