About daily price capping

Daily price capping is the most you will be charged a day when you use Oyster to pay as you go on bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground and some National Rail services.

Peak cap

The peak cap will apply if you travel from 04:30 and before 09:30 Mondays to Fridays.

You will be charged separately for your journey(s) from 04:30 and before 09:30 (Mondays to Fridays), plus the off-peak cap, if the total cost of the journeys you make is less than the peak cap.

Off-peak cap

The off-peak cap will apply if you make several journeys on the same day during the following hours:

Daily price capping from stations north of Moor Park

If you travel on Mondays to Fridays after the following times from stations north of Moor Park, your Oyster single fare will count towards the off-peak cap instead of the peak cap.

Children under 11 years can now travel FREE at any time on the Tube, DLR and London Overground:

Further information about free travel for under-11s or call our helpline on 0845 330 9876*.

* For BT residential customers, calls to the Oyster helpline will cost no more than 3.5p per minute, (current at May 2007). The price on non-BT phone lines may be different.

Maximum cash fares

When you are using Oyster to pay as you go you must touch in at the start and touch out at the end of your journey, even if you have reached the daily price cap for your day's travel. If you do not, a maximum cash fare will be deducted from your balance in addition to the capped fare.
