How to apply
Disabled person`s Freedom Pass
If you have a disability and believe you may be eligible for a Freedom Pass, please contact your local borough council for further information and details of how to apply.
Older person`s Freedom Pass
You can apply for a Freedom Pass at your local Post Office unless you live in Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Sutton or Wandsworth, in which case you must apply to your local borough council.
New passes
You must apply in person, taking one item from each of the following sections:
Renewals
If you are renewing your pass, (for example if it is faulty) you must re-apply in person. You must also take along your current photocard and one item as proof of address.
Proof of name and age
- Letter of pension entitlement
- Current passport
- Medical card
- Birth certificate (unless your name has changed)
- Pink driving licence (paper or photocard)
- Existing Freedom Pass (renewals only)
Proof of address
- Current council tax bill / letter / payment book
- Current council / housing association rent book / statement / letter
- Current television licence
If you take any of the items below, they must be dated within the last three months
- Residential utility bill
- Residential bank / building society statement
- Inland Revenue letter
- Benefits Agency letter
- Letter of pension entitlement or occupational pension letter
- Residential credit card statement
Photographs
- Existing Freedom Pass photocard (renewals only)
- Two recent passport-sized photographs
