Can I get one?
There are a range of National Railcards you can buy that allow discounted travel during off-peak times on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services.

Gold Cards
Gold Cards are annual season tickets with a difference:
- When you buy an annual Travelcard on an Oyster card you are automatically issued with a separate printed Gold Record Card
- When you buy an annual season ticket at a station within the Network Railcard Area and the origin and/or destination are also in the Network Railcard Area, you are automatically issued with a Gold Card

How much do I save?
Savings are available for each of the following National Railcards for travel during off-peak times on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail in London. You will get a 34 per cent discount on:
- Oyster pay as you go off-peak single fares
- Off-peak daily price caps
- Off-peak Day Travelcards

16-25 Railcard
If you buy a 16-25 Railcard, you can set the discount entitlement on a standard adult Oyster card, an 18+ Student Oyster photocard or a 16+ Oyster photocard to get 34 per cent discount on:
- Off-peak pay as you go single fares for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London
- The off-peak daily price cap for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London
You can also buy discounted Off-Peak Day Travelcards at anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and after 10:00, Monday to Friday. During July and August, Off-Peak Day Travelcards are available after 09:30.
If you have a 16+ Oyster photocard and a 16-24 Railcard discount, you will get the better value discount according to the journey you are making.
Senior Railcard
If you buy a Senior Railcard you can set the discount entitlement on a standard adult Oyster card to get 34 per cent discount on:
- Off-peak pay as you go single fares for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London
- The off-peak daily price cap for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London
You can also buy discounted Off-Peak Day Travelcards at anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and after 09:30 Monday to Friday.
HM Forces Railcard
If you buy a HM Forces Railcard you can set the discount entitlement on a standard adult Oyster card to get 34 per cent discount on:
- Off-peak pay as you go single fares for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London
- The off-peak daily price cap for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London
You can also buy discounted Off-Peak Day Travelcards at anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and after 10:00 on Monday to Friday. During July and August, Off-Peak Day Travelcards are available after 09:30.
If you are travelling with children aged under 16 you can get discounts for them too:
- On Tube, DLR, London Overground and some National Rail services you can take four children aged under 11 for free
- You can buy an Off-Peak Zone 1-9 Day Travelcard for £2 for up to four children aged 11-15 travelling with you (if they do not have an Oyster photocard). You must also have a valid ticket to travel
Disabled Persons Railcard
If you buy a Disabled Persons Railcard you can set the discount entitlement on a standard adult Oyster card to get 34 per cent discount on:
- Off-peak pay as you go single fares for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London
- The off-peak daily price cap for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services in London
You can also buy discounted Off-Peak Day Travelcards at anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and after 09:30 on Monday to Friday.
If you are using Oyster to pay as you go, you can also buy an Off-Peak Day Travelcard at the child rate for one adult who is travelling with you for the whole of your journey. The price of an Off-Peak Day Travelcard at the child rate is as follows:
- Zones 1-6 for £3.40
- Zones 1-9 for £4.50
NOTE: You must use your Disabled Persons Railcard with a valid ticket or Oyster card with the Railcard discount entitlement to travel. If you also have a Disabled person's Freedom Pass you cannot use the Disabled Persons Railcard to buy a discounted ticket for your companion, and then use your Freedom Pass to travel.
Network Railcard
If you buy a Network Railcard you can buy discounted Off-Peak Day Travelcards to travel at anytime on weekends and Public Holidays.
If you are travelling with children aged under 16 anytime on weekends and Public Holidays, you can get discounts for them too:
- On Tube, DLR, London Overground and some National Rail services you can take four children aged under 11 for free
- You can buy an Off-Peak Zone 1-9 Day Travelcard for £2 for up to four children aged 11-15 travelling with you (if they do not have an Oyster photocard). You must also have a valid ticket to travel
You can also take buy discounted Day Travelcards for up to three adults travelling with you.
Family & Friends Railcard
If you buy a Family & Friends Railcard you can buy discounted Off-Peak Day Travelcards to travel at anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and after 09:30 on Monday to Friday.
If you are travelling with children aged under 16 at anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and after 09:30 on Monday to Friday, you can get discounts for them too:
- On Tube, DLR, London Overground and some National Rail services you can take four children aged under 11 for free
- You can buy an Off-Peak Zone 1-9 Day Travelcard for £2 for up to four children aged 11-15 travelling with you (if they do not have an Oyster photocard). You must also have a valid ticket to travel

Annual Gold card
If you have an Annual Gold Card you can set the discount entitlement on a standard adult Oyster card to get 34 per cent discount on:

- The off-peak daily price cap for journeys on Tube, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services
You can also buy discounted Off-Peak Day Travelcards to travel at anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and after 10:00, Monday to Friday.
You can buy Off-Peak Day Travelcards for friends and family at the following reduced prices:

If your annual Travelcard is not valid in at least Zones 1-6, you need to buy a discounted Day Travelcard for yourself as well as the reduced price tickets for accompanying adults and children. The reduced price tickets cannot be bought before 10:00.
You can travel First Class on National Rail services for a supplement of £5 (£2.50 for children) per single or day return journey - some travel restrictions apply.
You can buy a Network Railcard for a relative or friend for just £1 - a saving of £27. Only one £1 Network Railcard Partner Card can be issued during the validity of the Annual Gold Card.
How do I apply
You can apply for a National Railcard on the Railcard website.
The Annual Gold Card, Disabled Persons, HM Forces, Senior and 16-25 National Railcard discount entitlement can be loaded on to an Oyster card, 18+ Student Oyster photocard or 16+ Oyster photocard at:
- Tube and London Overground station ticket offices (except London Overground stations south of New Cross Gate)
- Some National Rail station ticket offices
- Oyster Ticket Stops
- London Travel Information Centres
You can get an Oyster card at any of the above. You will need to pay a £5 refundable deposit.
Adding your discount entitlement to an Oyster card
For holders of Annual Gold Card, Disabled Persons, HM Forces, Senior and 16-25 National Railcard, if you want to get 34 per cent discount on pay as you go at off-peak times, you must register your Oyster card or Oyster photocard then get your discount entitlement added.
How do I use it?
- You need to touch your card on yellow card readers to make sure you pay the right price. Find out more about touching in and out
- Always carry your National Railcard photocard as proof of your entitlement when travelling on all modes - Tube, DLR, London Overground, bus and tram or National Rail
- Don't let anyone else use your National Railcard or Oyster card

All Railcard holders must carry their Railcard with them on all journeys.
