Pink card readers
When to use the pink card readers
If you're using Oyster pay as you go or have a Travelcard that doesn't include Zone 1, you may need to touch on a pink card reader when changing trains at one of the stations listed below.
The pink card reader will be located on or in between platforms where you change trains. If you don't touch on it, you may be charged a higher pay as you go fare than you expect. Or, if you are using a Travelcard, you could be charged an extension fare which will be taken from your pay as you go balance.
If there isn't a pink card reader, it means you don't need to use one. To see whether the journey you want to make has a cheaper route use Single fare finder.
What to do: Touch your Oyster card on the pink card reader when changing trains mid-journey. Touch in and out on the yellow readers as normal at the beginning and end of your journeys.
There are pink card readers on or in between London Overground platforms at:
- Blackhorse Road
- Canada Water
- Clapham Junction
- Gospel Oak
- Highbury & Islington
- Kensington (Olympia)
- Surrey Quays
- West Brompton
- Willesden Junction
There are pink card readers on the platform at Rayners Lane and Wimbledon Tube stations.
