For the duration of the Northbound closure the Northbound traffic flow will be maintained by the use of the Southbound Tunnel. Southbound traffic will be diverted via the Rotherhithe Tunnel, Dartford River Crossing or Central London Bridges. The Southbound Bus Route 108 is maintained during the closure and is escorted through the works area.

As part of the ongoing Victorian water and gas main replacement programme, Morrison Utilities working on behalf of Thames Water and Southern Gas Network will be working jointly on Borough High Street. To facilitate the works, lane restrictions will be implemented on Borough High Street and Great Dover Street to control all traffic.

21 Nov 09 : A new road layout is in place as of today, Saturday 21st November. There is now no access into Great Dover Street and Long Lane from Borough High Street and Marshalsea Road, however traffic travelling in the opposite direction on Great Dover Street and Long Lane can enter Borough High Street. Temporary traffic signals remain in operation at the junction with Borough High Street reduced to one lane southbound and two lanes northbound. Traffic is light and flowing well.

Northbound direction. On the weekends of 21st - 22nd November as well as the 28th - 29th, from 0800 - 1800, temporary signals will be in place at the junction of Oxford Street and Charing Cross Road. These works are part of the ongoing Tottenham Court Road station upgrade works. Normal restrictions are as follows: Charing Cross Road will be reduced to two lanes northbound, Andrew Borde Street will be closed and there will be no access to Charing Cross Road from Sutton Row.

The containers will be surrounded with Herras fencing and contractors accessing the containers will only do so in engineering hours (0100-0500). There will be a short crane operation to install the containers however this will take place between 0200 and 0400 on the 21st November, short holds may occur for the Route 188 serving Surrey Quays Road at this time.

To facilitate these works Upper Richmond Road is closed westbound between Keswick Road and Putney High Street. Eastbound traffic on Upper Richmond Road is unaffected. Access will be maintained westbound on Upper Richmond Road up to Keswick road for local traffic. Westbound A205 Traffic will be diverted via West Hill, Tibbet's Corner, Tibbet's Ride and Putney Hill. Upper Richmond Road will have local access to Keswick Road.

Please note at no time will both the eastbound and westbound carriageway be closed at the same time unless in an emergency.
