Walk details:
- Easy walking across commons and through pleasant residential parts of south London, with much of interest.
- Soon after the start you go through a mysterious no-man's-land between railway lines, then a green dome ahead turns out to be Streatham Pumping Station.
- Tarmac paths lead across Tooting Bec Common, passing the Lido and ponds.
- At Wandsworth Common the route goes cheekily through the station ticket office, and boardwalks allow close inspection of pondlife.
- After hurrying past the brooding brown hulk of Wandsworth Prison, you follow a long straight road beside Wandsworth Cemetery.
- The Wandle Trail is crossed at Earlsfield station, then after Durnsford Road Recreation Ground comes Wimbledon Mosque with its green cupolas.
