Transport for London

You sent us some fantastic photos of birds seen during your wanderings around London. The competition closed on the 31 May and more than 900 photos were entered.

These are the winners and runners-up of all three categories:

Mind the Bird competition winners and runners-ups

  • Under-18s winner: Adam Hawkins
  • Adult winner: Russell Spencer (runners-up: Eden Breitz, Hemanth Shanthigrama and Pankaj Ghosh)
  • London Underground and RSPB staff winner: Jack Hawkins (runners-up: Andy Barr, James Offer, Jennie Mosson, Liz Grimes and Vuk Nenadovic)

We hope we have inspired you to get outside and rediscover the huge variety of birds in the Capital. Despite the growing urban landscape, and air and noise pollution, the Capital is home to a wealth of bird species living in a surprising variety of habitats and you can get to them easily by using the Tube.

So, keep discovering and sharing our enthusiasm and interest in protecting London’s wildlife. We ran the competition with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
