Exquisite City Planners
Big Draw 2008

Venue: Stratford station

11 October 2008

The Big Draw 2008 came to Stratford station in October, when artist Michelle Williams joined forces with the Architecture Crew – a group of 13 to 19 year-olds – to create a striking, large-scale drawing of the city skyline for Stratford station’s mezzanine.

The crew took on the role of city planners and created an artwork in just one day. It reflected their vision for their city and was displayed to customers and staff at the station.

Developed in collaboration with Fundamental Architectural Inclusion, the project was part of Art on the Underground’s programme to deliver a series of contemporary art commissions in Stratford, which have individuals and communities at their heart in the lead up to the 2012 Games.

The Architecture Crew also worked with Lucy Harrison on Issue 3 of The Stratford Grapevine.
