Covers - By Mary Anne Francis

5 August – 7 October 2002
Piccadilly Circus Underground station, subway 2

A series of images that explore the relationships between the reader, the viewer and the artist, Covers invites questions such as: Are we what we read? Do all books change our lives?

More radically, these photographs might also suggest that we are only what we read – is there really anything behind the covers?

Mary Anne Francis is a London-based artist and writer. Her work addresses a range of subjects taking various forms including three-dimensional media, film and video, painting, installation, public and site specific art as well as photography.
