"When I mentioned to my friends I’d got on the apprenticeship scheme, they thought I’d be learning to drive tube trains. But then, like most people, they didn’t realise just how many different opportunities there are here. For example, if I want to get into management I can apply to become a Station Supervisor. From there I can move up to Duty Manager (where I’d be responsible for more than one station) and then become a Group Station Manager (where I’d be in charge of a group of stations). On the flip side, if I decide I want more of a hands-on, technical sort of role, I can go into signal operations or become a tube driver. Then, once I’ve got a bit of experience under my belt, I could qualify as a trainer and help other people develop their skills. There are so many career paths to follow and, as an apprentice, I’m in a great position to explore them all."
