Cycle London Photo Competition

Terms and conditions

The promoter is Transport for London, 55 Broadway, London, SW1 0BD.

1. By submitting a photograph which you have taken and relates to cycling in London or which you took during a bicycle ride in London (a 'qualifying photograph') to the TfL Cycle London Group on Flickr ('the website'), You will be entered into TfL's Cycling Photography Competition ('the competition'). By submitting a qualifying photograph you confirm that you agree to the following terms and conditions.

2. The competition is open to all UK residents who submit a qualifying photograph to the Website, excluding employees of TfL and their immediate families, TfL's agents, or anyone professionally connected with the Competition. If you are using your work computer to access and/or enter the competition you may need to obtain your employer's permission prior to entering.

3. All entrants aged under 18 must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian prior to entry. The promoter reserves the right to ask for evidence of that consent in writing at any time throughout the duration of the competition, including during and after the selection of winners.

4. No purchase necessary.

5. To enter, your photograph must be a qualifying photograph as defined at condition 1 above. Entries which, in the sole opinion of the promoter, do not meet this qualifying criteria will be disqualified. Entrants are asked to take care in participating in this competition and only carry a camera or take photographs when it is safe to do so.

6. All qualifying photographs submitted to the website between 00:01 18 August 2008 ('the opening date') and 23:59 15 September 2008 ('the closing date') will be automatically entered into the competition.

7. Entries must be received by the closing date. Late entries will not be accepted.

8. The promoter accepts no responsibility for entries which are lost or corrupted during upload.

9. There is no limit to the number of qualifying photographs each person can submit.

10. By submitting a qualifying photograph, you are confirming that the photograph was taken by you and that you have the express consent of all individuals featured in it for the photograph to be entered into the competition and in doing so, for it to be posted on the website and made publicly available. By submitting a qualifying photograph which features any individual under the age of 18, you are also confirming that you have the express consent of their parent or legal guardian. Please do not submit any photographs unless you are sure that you have this consent. Please note that should a complaint arise or consent be withdrawn at any time the promoter reserves the right to disqualify the corresponding entry and remove it from the website.

11. By submitting a qualifying photograph taken on private property, or of any subject matter in which a third party owns rights, you are confirming that you have the permission of the property or rights owner as appropriate to take the photograph, and for the photograph to be entered into the competition, posted on the website and made publicly available. Please do not submit any photographs if you are unsure of whether third party rights subsist or unless you are sure that you have the requisite permissions. Please note that should a complaint arise that any third party rights have been infringed the promoter reserves the right to disqualify the corresponding entry and remove it from the website.

12. The promoter reserves the right to disqualify and remove from the website any entry which in its sole opinion it deems to be obscene or offensive in any way.

13. Qualifying photographs should be uploaded by posting to the 'Cycle London' Group in Flickr as high resolution (at least 300dpi) jpg files no more than 2Mb in size. Qualifying photographs should be accompanied by the location where the photographs were taken, as a description, comment or map location. Failure to include the location of where the qualifying photograph was taken will result in your entry being disqualified. By uploading the qualifying photograph You confirm that you agree to the Terms and Conditions of submission.

14. By submitting a qualifying photograph and text you agree that the promoter has an irrevocable and royalty free right to use and reproduce the qualifying photograph and text for the purposes of this competition and related publicity.

15. A panel of judges will determine the winners of the competition from all entries received prior to the closing date. Entries will be divided into eight categories representing eight areas of London. A list of the eight areas is set out below. The best qualifying photograph, judged in line with the criteria at condition 16 below, taken in each area will win a £200 voucher to be spent at Evans Cycle Shop stores. Only one £200 voucher prize per person. The winner judged to have submitted the best photograph across all London Areas will win a further £200 voucher to be spent at Evans Cycle Shop stores plus a £200 voucher to be spent at Jessops stores.

16. Photographs will be judged according to their originality, appropriateness and relevance to the promotion of 'cycling' and quality of photography.

17. The judges' decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

18. No cash or other prize alternatives are available.

19. The promoter reserves the right to substitute the prizes for any prize(s) of an equal or greater value in the event of circumstances beyond its control.

20. Winners will be notified by email within 14 days of the closing date. A list of winners will be published on the website on 25 September 2008 and remain available until 5 October 2008.

22. The prize winners may be required to participate in publicity and promotional activities.

23. The eight London areas are: North, North East, South West, City, West Central, South East, West and East. The Promoter will use the borough details submitted with your qualifying photograph to assign your entry or entries to a particular area or areas. A definition of the areas in which each borough is said to be located for the purposes of this Competition is listed below: North (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey), North East (Hackney, Islington, Waltham Forest), South West (Hounslow, Kingston, Richmond, Merton, Wandsworth, Lambeth, Sutton), City (City of London), West Central (Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster), South East (Bexley, Bromley, Lewisham, Southwark, Croydon, Greenwich), West (Brent, Harrow, Ealing, Hillingdon), East (Barking and Dagenham, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Havering, Redbridge).
