Your personal information
A full data protection statement can be found on the last page of the Zip 5-10 Oyster photocard application form. The section below explains further how TfL uses the information you, as the parent/guardian, supply on the application form and the limited circumstances where TfL might disclose it to someone else.
The personal information that we ask you to supply is limited to:
- Your child: Name, address, date of birth and name of the school they attend
- You as the applicant (parent/guardian): Name, address, telephone number, signature and date of application
TfL and the companies that process this information for us use your child's and your information for customer services and to administer the scheme. For example, we will use this personal information to ensure that your child is eligible for the Zip Oyster photocard scheme, to issue your child's Zip Oyster photocard and respond to queries if you contact us. TfL may also contact you near the expiry date of your child's Zip Oyster photocard to tell you about your child's future ticketing options.
We will not use your child's or your personal information for marketing purposes and will not pass it to any other organisation for this purpose.
Data Protection Act
In some circumstances, the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) gives TfL the discretion to disclose personal information - where requested to do so - to the police. Disclosures to the police (and other law enforcement agencies) are permitted by the DPA, for the prevention or detection of crime and/or the apprehension or prosecution of offenders. Before any such disclosure is authorised by TfL, the police are required to demonstrate that the personal data concerned will assist them in this respect.
Each police request is dealt with on a strictly case-by-case basis to ensure that any such disclosure is lawful and in accordance with the DPA.
