Night traffic passing TfL is responsible for the 580km red route network and carry 35 per cent of the city's traffic. The remaining roads are maintained by the 33 London boroughs.

To keep London moving, we need to ensure drivers are following road rules. To deter drivers from ignoring these rules, we issue a £120 Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) with every violation. Parking attendants can now issue PCNs by post in certain circumstances.

Any money raised from traffic enforcement is put back into improving London's roads and traffic control.
