Barclays Cycle Hire / How it works

  • Front (right) and rear (left) brakes

  • Front reflector and lights that stay on up to 2 minutes once stationary. The light comes on automatically when you start cycling

  • Rear lights that stay on up to 2 minutes once stationary. The lights come on automatically when you start cycling

  • Rear reflector

  • Reflectors on wheels

  • 3 gears easy to use

  • Basket with elastic cord

  • Comfortable and adjustable saddle (standardised positioning heights)

  • Mud guard to protect your clothing from splashes

  • Unique cycle number and integrated chain protector, so you don't get your skirt/trousers dirty

The cycles are built for comfort and safety. They come with:

 Brakes - front (right) and rear (left)
 Lights - come on as soon as you start pedalling, stay on for two minutes when you stop
 Reflectors - front and rear, and on wheels
 Gears - three. Best to set off in first
 Basket - with elastic cord to keep possessions safe
 Saddle - comfortable, with adjustable height
 Mud guards - protects clothing from splashes
 Chain protector - keeps skirts and trousers grease-free
 Unique cycle number - to help identify it
