Business Analysis – Surface Transport
Business analysis is about looking at an organisation, its habits and its ways of working - and then engineering improvement. On our scheme you'll work on a variety of business projects to achieve exactly that. You could find yourself analysing current processes to identify improvements, looking at new ways for the business to work more efficiently and effectively, or contributing to business planning activities.
As a trainee business analyst you'll be based within one of two areas - Directorate of Traffic Operations (DTO) or Congestion Charging and Traffic Enforcement (CC&TE).
Our aim for you as one of our graduates is to develop and hone your business analysis expertise. That way, after our two year scheme, you'll have the skills you need to excel in areas that include change management and process mapping.
Placements
Placements normally last three to six months and are made up of various projects for specified business benefits. We want to give you the chance to experience business management areas that affect the whole of TfL. These could include:
- Programme and Business Management
- Contracts and Efficiencies
- Business Planning and Strategy
- Procurement
Further education and professional studies
We'll offer you a number of invaluable training courses. They'll equip you with superb analytical skills, for example, business process re-engineering, research and data collecting, and project management principals. You'll also have the chance to study towards the ISEB Diploma in Business Analysis.
Duration
Two years.
Entry requirements
Your 2:1 honours degree can be in any discipline, though a subject matter that's numerate or analytical would be particularly useful.
If you're successful you'll have to pass pre-employment checks before joining. These will include reference checks, qualifications checks, right to work in the UK and in some cases a medical and a Criminal Records Bureau check.
Applications
Our graduate applications open on Monday 5 October 2009 and we recruit on a rolling basis. This means that when we have sufficient number of applications to fill positions for particular schemes, we will then close that particular application track. Therefore, applying as early as possible is vital, particularly if you want to apply for your preferred scheme.
