Standards
A formal company assessment will be conducted on-site at your premises by a member of the Commercial Vehicle Education Unit, the FORS assessors. To gain bronze FORS membership, you must be able to demonstrate that you have the management systems, written policies and documented procedures in place to comply with the law, and that you meet the specification FORS standard (PDF 815KB).
About the specification
FORS is the future of London freight. We're supporting the freight industry to become safer, more efficient and more environmentally-friendly.
At the heart of FORS is our specification. Developed by industry partners representing safety, enforcement and sustainability interests, the specification defines the standards you need to meet to join the scheme.
As well as legal compliance, your company needs to demonstrate its commitment to health and safety, the management of work-related road risk and improved efficiency. Further details on the standards you'll be expected to achieve are outlined below.
.
The standards within the specification
There are four sets of standards for bronze membership of FORS. They are:
- Drivers and driver management
- Vehicle and fleet management
- Transport operations
- Performance management
You'll need to demonstrate you have effective systems in place for all of these.
Membership levels
FORS has three levels of membership: bronze, silver and gold.
