London Underground
London Underground Limited's Publication Scheme
London Underground Limited is a public authority under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and is committed to providing public access to the information it holds. The Freedom of Information Act came fully into effect in January 2005 from when any member of the public is able to request access to unpublished information held by London Underground Limited. London Underground Limited will only withhold information in accordance with the exemptions under the Freedom of Information Act.
The Freedom of Information Act also requires London Underground Limited to maintain a Publication Scheme. This is in addition to the requirement that Transport for London, London Underground's parent organisation, also maintains a Publication Scheme. Transport for London's Publication Scheme does not cover its subsidiary companies.
The Aims of the Scheme are:
- To ensure that a significant amount of information is published routinely and proactively, without the need for individual members of the public to make specific requests for that information.
- To help London Underground Limited to further develop, and demonstrate a culture of openness in all its dealings with members of the public.
