Next steps
The new Northern ticket hall will open to the public on 29 November 2009, delivering:
- A 2,000 square metre ticket hall
- Ten new escalators
- Six new step-free access lifts (Northern line step-free access available from mid 2010)
- New ticket office windows and ticket machines
- Around 300 metres of new tunnels linking the ticket hall with the Northern, Picadilly and Victoria line platforms. These will provide new entrance points at either end of the platforms, reducing congestion at the station
Transformation of King's Cross St. Pancras (GIF 69KB)
Additional work at the station
We are also working to update the existing station at King's Cross St. Pancras. This will modernise the Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria line platforms, concourses and escalators. We will be improving the appearance of these areas and providing other facilities including more Help points and platform humps (for step-free acces onto trains.) Existing escalators will also be replaced.
Work will continue into 2010 and will involve some track closures. Keep up to date with live travel news.
