Shepherd's Bush (Central line)

Artist impression of Shepherd's Bush (Central line) station redesign Click for larger image (opens in new window) We are carrying out major development works at Shepherd's Bush (Central line) station as part of a multi-million pound upgrade of the Underground.

The upgrade includes a spacious new ticket hall, new escalators, and a brand new look and design.

The station closed in February 2008 and will reopen in October 2008 so we can carry out improvement works. Find out why we've closed the station.

Station redesign and new ticket hall

The station will provide a brand new and larger ticket hall building which will reduce congestion

The station will be rebuilt and enlarged, and will provide you with:

Escalator replacement

We have brought forward the installation of new escalators to coincide with work on the new ticket hall. You will benefit sooner from new escalators, and experience less disruption as the station will be closed for a shorter period than initially planned.

Station modernisation

The revamped station will also offer you a number of enhanced features, including:

Step-free access

We have started design work to bring step-free access to the station. However, we have met significant difficulties due to the complex engineering work required.

We will continue to explore whether it is possible to produce a design that can be built and is affordable.
