Camden Town station suffers from congestion, particularly at weekends
Following the 2004 Public Inquiry, the report issued by the Secretary of State accepted the need for Camden Town station's redevelopment and endorsed the proposed Underground station development. However the proposals for the area above the ground of the station were rejected and as a result, London Underground's overall application to redevelop the station was refused.
Based on the recommendations by the Secretaries of State and the Inspector, the London Borough of Camden has agreed to prepare a planning brief for the above ground area with continued input from local communities.
Camden Council began public consultation in January 2006 and the information collected from ongoing community engagement has informed a planning brief which will support London Underground in developing a revised scheme
