A316 Country Way Viaduct

We need to carry out these works to prolong the viaduct's life.
The work, between Apex Corner and Sunbury Cross roundabout, should be completed in early 2009.
Improvements
- Improved safety by installing safety barriers to current standards
- Waterproofing and resurfacing of the viaduct
- Improved street lighting
- Bridge bearing replacement
- Reduced maintenance disruption in the future
Benefits
Improved signing, road markings and lighting for transport users
- Improved environment for pedestrians using 'Jobs Dairy' roundabout
- Improved signing, road markings and lighting for transport users
- Less maintenance disruption to road users and local businesses after the works
Disruptions
The project has been designed to allow roads to stay open during the busiest times of day. At least two lanes of traffic in both directions of the A316 Country Way Viaduct will be kept open between 06:00 and 20:30.
We will also need to carry out some night time works. There will be a reduction to one lane of traffic in each direction between 20:30 and 06:00. Two lanes will be open outside these periods.
Background
We have been working closely with all the major stakeholders over the past year to develop the scheme.
Throughout the design process we consulted with the Highways Agency who maintain the M3.
We have also consulted emergency services, local bus operators and London Borough of Hounslow.
