Next steps

A public inquiry into Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPOs) and Side Roads Orders (SROs) took place from 11 to 13 March 2008 at Trinity-at-Bowes Church in Palmerstone Road.

TfL has recently received ministerial confirmation of the CPOs and SROs necessary to implement the Safety and Environmental Improvement Scheme from Bounds Green Road to Green Lanes on the A406 North Circular Road.

Land to be purchased under the CPO includes an area of public space alongside Bounds Green Road.

TfL will redress this by providing alternative public open space at the south end of New Southgate, adjacent to the north side of Telford Road.

The Secretary of State for Transport has issued a certificate in respect of the Exchange Land proposals.

Construction is scheduled to start in 2009 and be completed in 2011.

TfL will publicise details of the timing of construction when confirmed.

This part of the A406 North Circular Road will remain open to traffic in both directions throughout construction and traffic management in the area will remain a priority.

TfL will contact residents whose properties will be directly affected in due course.

TfL has provided funds to the London boroughs of Enfield, Haringey and Barnet to support their initiatives to implement traffic calming measures on roads next to the A406.
