Disruptions
National Grid and BT carry out works on section of A406 from Monday 13 July 2009.
From Monday 13 July 2009, the A406 westbound lane will be reduced from three to two lanes for eight weeks to facilitate National Grid gas main works. The works are a part of National Grid's gas pipe upgrade programme.
Transport for London (TfL) is advising motorists using the westbound A406 North Circular Road between Great Cambridge roundabout to Green Lanes, Enfield, to consider alternative routes.
The slip lane on to Green Lane will also be closed while National Grid and British Telecom undertake upgrade works, and vehicles wishing to turn left onto Green Lane will be diverted via Brownlow Road.
Transport for London (TfL) is coordinating these utility works to minimise disruption and ensure that multiple works are carried out during road closures wherever possible.
The A406 will remain open in both directions during this time, however with westbound traffic restricted between these two junctions, motorists are advised that congestion is likely, particularly during peak hours. We may need to temporarily close footways and restrict lane use.
To minimise the disruption to journeys, motorists are encouraged to check live traffic news before they travel to determine alternative routes.
TfL has been working with National Grid to notify residents and other stakeholders of the upcoming works and motorists will also be made aware through roadside message boards.
The contractor will be obliged to:
- Minimise disturbance and disruption
- Keep local people informed about the progress of works
- Set up a dedicated telephone line for queries and concerns
A letter has been sent to local residents informing them of the forthcoming works.
