The bridge will make it easier to travel to and around the Thames Gateway area and will support regeneration.
Unfortunately, in July 2007 we received a letter from the Government announcing they were deferring their decision on the construction of the bridge.
About the bridge
The bridge will:

- Have two segregated and dedicated public transport lanes and separate lanes for pedestrians and cyclists
- Reduce journey times and increase the number of jobs or people that could be reached in a 45-minute journey
- Make the area a more attractive place for businesses and houses and so lead to more investment in the area
