Phase One
In December 2008, Skanska Infrastructure Services was appointed to undertake construction of the first phase of the ELT.
Services are due to begin in Spring 2010.
Route information
We have put together a series of maps and explanations of changes that will be made to the road network to support the introduction of the ELT service.

The ELT service will start in early 2010 after construction work is completed.

Phase Two
The second phase of ELT is in the detailed design stage and is scheduled to begin construction in 2011, with services starting in 2013.

ELT's second phase will deliver:
- Dedicated bus lanes in selected areas to improve journey time reliability
- Reduced congestion by removing parking and loading from the live traffic lanes
- Improved footways and pedestrian access
- Upgraded traffic signals and improved junctions
- Improved passenger information
- New trees to create a tree-lined avenue along River Road
Compulsory Purchase Order
TfL are seeking to acquire land and rights to enable implementation of the second phase of the project.
The objection period for the Compulsory Purchase Order has now closed.
