Background

We carried out consultations on the new East London Transit (ELT) routes and are now preparing to begin construction.

The two separate routes that will make up the ELT are:

• Ilford to Dagenham Dock via Barking town centre
• Barking town centre to Dagenham Dock via Barking Riverside

Following a public consultation in May 2007, a route was chosen from four possible options.

The chosen option (B) will run from Barking town centre through River Road and into Thames Road, Creek Road and Long Reach Road, before reaching Barking Riverside.
