The East London line is currently closed so major extension work can be carried out. It is due to re-open by summer 2010 as part of the London Overground network.

Calendar of key construction activities

Late 2009
Deliver first new train for testing.

June 2010
Northern extension to Dalston complete, with new step-free stations at Dalston, Haggerston, Hoxton and Shoreditch. Southern extension to New Cross, Crystal Palace and West Croydon also complete.

February 2011
Extension from Dalston Junction to Highbury & Islington complete.

Extension to Clapham Junction

The funding has now been secured for the second phase of the East London line extension which will connect Surrey Quays to Clapham Junction. Four trains per hour will connect Surrey Quays, Queens Road Peckham, Peckham Rye, Denmark Hill, Clapham High Street, Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction.

Work is due for completion for the 2012 Olympics.
