Transforming the Tube
It's going to take time to bring you the world class network you deserve - about 10 years in fact. And we'll be honest right now that you will experience some disruption as we carry out these improvement works, which we'll keep you fully informed about, although you should always check before you travel.

A world class Tube for London is no mean ambition, and that's the aim we've set ourselves
Over the coming months we'll be giving you full information about our plans. For now, here's just a snapshot of what we'll be doing on some of your lines and at your stations.
Line improvements in a nutshell
Track and signalling might not get you going, but once we've renewed them:
- You won't have to wait as long for a train as we can run more trains per hour
- You'll enjoy a smoother ride
- Your journey will be faster and more reliable
Your trains take quite a pounding each day, so we're going to be providing brand new trains on some lines, and extra carriages or refits on others.
Station improvements in a nutshell
As we get to work on each station you'll enjoy:
- More pleasant stations - we'll be giving many a facelift by 2012, restoring and protecting the heritage of old stations, while completely modernising others (such as King's Cross St. Pancras)
- Better access from station to platform and platform to train as we gradually install lifts, introduce wider ticket gates and change platforms
- Better security
- Better customer information
