Improved safety and security
with staff at every station during train operating hours to improve customer service and passenger securityOyster pay as you go
accepted at all stations on the network. We have fitted all stations with Oyster ticket machines and readers so you can touch in and touch out. You can travel free if you have a Freedom pass or if you are under 11 and travelling with an adult with a valid ticket.
Future improvements
Better, safer stations, new trains. It's all coming
You will enjoy even more benefits as we carry out longer term investment costing a whopping £1.4 billion. This will provide:
Trains run earlier and later
from December 2007. And from 2011 we'll be running more trains (four every hour, all day, every day) so you can just "turn up and go"
Better stations
from 2008 - more Help points and CCTV, not to mention improved lighting and customer information systems. We want you to feel welcome and secure in a clean, safe environment
Brand new trains
from 2008
- More space - wider gangways to create more capacity
- Greater security - clear sightlines for passengers and onboard CCTV
- Faster boarding and alighting - wider doors and aisles to reduce waiting times
- Improved accessibility - wheelchair ramps and dedicated wheelchair bays

An extended East London line
with four new step-free stations at Haggerston, Hoxton, Shoreditch High Street and Dalston Junction in 2010
An integrated network
when we join the extended East London line to the North London line at Highbury and Islington in 2011
