London City Airport DLR

London City Airport The London City Airport extension opened in December 2005 and now has the highest proportion of passengers travelling to and from any airport in the UK

Benefits

Running from Canning Town to King George V station at North Woolwich via London City Airport, the extension brings many benefits to Londoners, including:

* 2006/07 figures - Environment Report 2007, Transport for London Fares and journey times.

The DLR operates the same zonal fare system as London Underground and London Buses.

Almost 50 per cent of airport passengers use black cabs.

The length and cost of journeys depend on traffic and time of day but some comparative costs and journey times are listed below.

Next steps

We are currently extending the route under the Thames to Woolwich Arsenal, providing direct cross-river access to the airport from 2009.
