Transport for London
Sometimes, actions we think are perfectly normal come across to others as annoying or discomforting.
This can be especially true when people are brought together on buses, Tubes and trains.
We have launched a new campaign to encourage more considerate behaviour on London’s transport system.
It's Monday morning. You’re on the upper deck of a crowded bus and some teenagers are being boisterous in the back rows. An elderly woman looks on in vain as they play loud, thumping music on their mobiles.
Downstairs, a businessman loudly makes his point down his mobile while a passenger eats smelly food and tosses the empty carton to the back of the bus.
These scenarios feature in the film which introduces our campaign. Created by Oscar-nominated British director Mike Figgis, it uses the technically demanding multi-split-screen format he pioneered in his 2000 film, Timecode.
'The Londoners' are distinct animated characters each sporting t-shirts with a specific pledge aimed to encourage considerate behaviour when travelling in London.
Their pledges include:
What behaviour annoys you the most?
