Legible London
From signposts to maps, you'll enjoy a reliable, consistent system to help you get around the Capital.
- It will be easy for you to get to grips with, with consistent, common help wherever you are in London
- There will be less clutter on the streets, by having as few signs as possible
- It could help you build a better picture in your head of how London is connected - 'mental mapping'
- It will be an effective, high-quality system that is worthy of London's world class city status
- As it's London-wide it will be cheaper and easier to maintain
Bond Street area trial
We are testing out the new system in the heart of London - the Bond Street area of the West End. There are 19 on-street signs, maps in bus shelters and signs in Bond Street Tube station. Paper area guides and audio maps also follow the same consistent style.
We will be working with Westminster City Council and the New West End Company to see get feedback from locals, businesses and visitors in the area.
Background
- Inconsistent, confusing or missing information about where to walk and how to find one's way around
- People thinking it is too slow or complicated compared to other forms of travel
