Under the scheme you can travel free if you are visiting venues of an educational and cultural interest that enhance, support and supplement teaching as part of the National Curriculum.
Travel is free on Tube, DLR, bus, tram and National Rail services (within Greater London only - except Amersham to Moor Park). School Party Travel Pilot scheme tickets are not valid on London River Services.
We will do all we can to meet your request but this may not always be possible.
Where your trip involves use of National Rail services, you must state the time of the train(s) you wish to use and the name of the train operating company.
This is so that we can check with the train operating company that they can accommodate your school party on their train(s). If they can't, they will try to offer an alternative service. Transport for London (TfL) and the train operating companies have the right to reject applications.
The School Party Travel scheme is open to all eligible schools located within Greater London.
The scheme offers free travel on Mondays to Fridays on buses, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground and National Rail services within Greater London to venues of an educational and cultural nature that enhance, support and supplement teaching as part of the National Curriculum. The scheme helps to make places of interest more accessible to children by providing free travel. It also increases patronage and understanding of these places.
Free travel is ONLY available with a valid School Party Travel ticket or tickets. All members of the school party must be booked on the ticket(s) and must travel in accordance with the journey details shown on the ticket(s). Where valid tickets have not been obtained, standard fares must be paid unless the child is eligible for free travel. Attempts to make school party trips without valid tickets or free travel concession may result in suspension of the school from the School Party Travel scheme concession.
Transport for London and the train operating companies have the right to reject applications.
