Aldgate East Gyratory

Aldgate-east-gyratory-development Work has started on a privately funded project to remove the one-way gyratory at Aldgate East to deliver a series of benefits to all who live, work and travel in this vibrant part of the Capital.

What is involved?

The scheme will involve a number of measures to make the area more cycle and pedestrian friendly, including:

Works will be carried out as quickly as possible and we will work at weekends and night time as much as we can to minimise any inconvenience.

The highway project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, while the new public space is scheduled to finish in 2009.

Congestion Charging

During and following the works, drivers should be aware that traffic directions will change and consequently these changes may result in drivers entering the Congestion Charging zone if alternative routes are not taken.

To avoid receiving a Penalty Charge Notice, drivers should follow the signs to avoid the Congestion Charging zone. All drivers entering the zone will be liable to pay the daily charge.
