Travel information

Your journey may be affected while we work on the station.

Major utility works on Oxford Street to reinforce key water, gas and electricity services before the main construction work begins have recently been completed. Resurfacing works have also been completed, with two-way traffic restored on Saturday 5th May. All buses have now been returned to their original routes.

Within Bond Street station work is underway to replace two escalators which are among the oldest on the Tube. The new escalators will be up and running by May 2012 in time for the 2012 Games.

Cyclists can use our Cycle Journey Planner to find an alternative route.

Crossrail

Crossrail will be a high-capacity, high-frequency railway running from Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.

Bond Street station will be a key point on the Crossrail route as it runs through central London.

Background

We're working with Crossrail and City of Westminster to improve the Bond Street area.

The Crossrail Parliamentary Bill received Royal Assent on 22 July 2008, after completing all its parliamentary stages, becoming the Crossrail Act 2008.

The Act gives permission for Crossrail to be built, operated and maintained. It also gives London Underground permission to improve Bond Street station.

An outline of the works taking place within Westminster is set out in the report below. It describes the works and sets out a programme for approval from Westminster City Council for the planning required under the Crossrail Act.
