Transport for London

King's Cross St. Pancras

The new Kings Cross St. Pancras The new ticket hall The transformation of London's oldest and busiest Underground station into a contemporary hub for international and domestic rail services will be complete by 2010.

The new Northern ticket hall at the station opened on Sunday 29 November 2009.

The redevelopment of King's Cross St. Pancras Tube station is being done in two phases.

Ongoing phase two

As part of the second phase of the redevelopment project we have built the Northern ticket hall to the west of King's Cross mainline station, to provide direct and step-free access to the Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria line platforms.

The Northern ticket hall serves international and domestic services at St. Pancras International station, and domestic services at King's Cross mainline station.

Remaining work on this phase involves the excavation and construction of a new lift to the Northern line.

A separate project is underway to modernise the older areas of the Underground station.

Completed phase one

Phase one involved the construction of the Western ticket hall, which now provides direct access to the Circle and Metropolitan lines and to St. Pancras International.

We also refurbished and enlarged the Tube ticket hall and the Metropolitan and Circle line concourse.

These improvements provide increased capacity, better interchange and access to St Pancras International - the gateway to Europe, following the opening of the Eurostar terminal in November 2007.
