Improving interchanges
London has some 600 stations where people can change between different types of transport. We plan to improve many of these areas by looking at the following themes:
- Efficiency: Operations, moving around, sustainability
- Usability: Accessibility, safety and preventing accidents, personal security, protection
- Understanding: Legibility, permeability, wayfinding, information
- Quality: Perception, design, spaces, sense of place
Our work to improve interchanges will help make them better places to live, work and travel through.
What is an interchange?
An interchange is where transport services meet. This includes the Tube, trains, trams, DLR, buses, boats and taxis, as well as cycling and walking facilities.
Who we're working with
We work closely with the boroughs, property developers, the Greater London Authority, the London Development Agency, National Rail and train operating companies and other stakeholders.
