Underground in bloom
Underground in Bloom Competition 2009
During the summer, staff around the network worked tirelessly in their spare time growing flowers, plants and even fruit and vegetables to add colour to their stations, depots and service control rooms.
Staff from some of London's busiest and most famous stations including Oxford Circus, Sloane Square, South Kensington and Victoria took part in the competition which was supported by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, Chair of London Food, Rosie Boycott and BBC2 Gardeners World presenter Joe Swift.
This year's competition attracted the highest number of entrants ever with nearly a quarter of all Underground staff participating in some way to improve the environment where they work.
