Blackfriars
Benefits include:
- New escalators from street-level to the refurbished Tube and National Rail platforms, making it quicker and easier for passengers to get in and out of the station and to change between Tube and Rail services
- A bright, modern and spacious new ticket hall
- Better customer information, lighting and security systems, making journeys even safer
- New lifts for step-free access from the street to all platforms, making it easier for those who are disabled, and people with pushchairs or luggage
From 2013, accessibility will be further improved as we introduce air-conditioned Circle and District line trains, which have lower floors providing level access with the platforms.
The work at Blackfriars was carried out as part of the Tube Improvement Plan. The work was delivered by Network Rail and forms part of the wider Thameslink programme.
