Transforming the Central line

The Central line was upgraded with new trains, tracks and signalling in the 1990s.

The line's 85 trains have eight cars each and were introduced between 1993 and 1995. They are automatically operated, which means faster and smoother journeys.

Major works to rebuild Shepherd's Bush station as part of improvements in the White City and Shepherd's Bush area have been completed.

Completed stations:

Bethnal Green, Bond Street, Chigwell, Debden, East Acton, Epping, Fairlop, Holborn, Lancaster Gate, Leyton, Loughton, Northolt, Queensway, Perivale, Roding Valley, Ruislip Gardens, Shepherds's Bush, Snaresbrook, South Ruislip, South Woodford, St. Paul's, Theydon Bois, West Ruislip, White City and Woodford.
