1967
- Victoria Line
- Refurbished by Tickford Rail at Rosyth Royal Dockyard 1991-1995.
The 1967 tube stock was designed and built the then new Victoria line, the worlds first fully automatic railway. The original order was for 244 carriages, later expanded by a further 72 carriages when the Brixton extension was authorised.
The fleet was further expanded by converting 31 72 MkI tube stock cars from the Northern Line. As these car are not fitted with Automatic Train Control equipment they are used in the middle 1967 tube stock cars.
The aluminium-alloy car bodies, on a steel underframe have wrap-round windscreens without corner pillars.
The secondary suspension incorporates hydraulic suspension-control units.
The trains underwent mid-life refurbishment by Tickford Rail at Rosyth Dockyard between 1991 and 1995.
This stock is due to be replaced in 2009 by the 09 tube stock currently being designed by Bombardier Transport UK.
