Transport for London

South London RUS

We recently responded to Network Rail's consultation on the South London Route Utilisation Strategy (RUS).

We are very supportive of the strategy outlined in the South London RUS. We believe it offers the prospect of a significant capacity increase across most of south London, an area where National Rail is an especially important public transport mode.

In particular, we welcome the proposals for train lengthening to 10 cars in the south central area and 12 cars in the south eastern area, as well as the proposed increases in frequency on the Norbury, Hayes and Bexleyheath routes.

The synergy between the proposals in the RUS for the South London Line and our development of the East London Line Extension Phase 2b scheme is very apparent, and we believe this scheme will offer significant benefits and new journey opportunities for passengers travelling on this route.
