Transport for LondonStansted Generation two rail schemes
We have recently responded to BAA's Stansted Generation 2 rail schemes consultation. The detailed response can be accessed via the link below.
We support improved access to airports by public transport and, in this case, the need for improved transport provision from London to Stansted airport. But we do not believe that BAA's current proposals represent the best solution to the route's requirements for the next fifteen years and beyond.
We believe that there are practical and affordable alternative schemes that exist which take account of planned demand growth and the needs of all rail users, notably option 12b in Network Rail's draft Greater Anglia RUS.
We look forward to continuing discussions with BAA, Network Rail and the DfT to secure a railway for all present and future users of this route.
