Transport for London

Looking ahead

Tunnel Docklands Light Railway (DLR) already offers a high quality service, but that doesn't mean there's no room for improvement.

In fact, we're always working on projects to make the service just a little bit better.

The following projects have been developed in partnership with local authorities and agencies committed to sustainable regeneration.

Woolwich Arsenal extension
Opened on 10 January 2009, the Woolwich Arsenal extension provides improved community transport and access to employment and education opportunities. Now and into the future it will provide new jobs, houses, shops and leisure facilities.

Three-carriage trains
From 2010 trains from Bank to Lewisham will have an extra carriage, giving 50 per cent more on-board capacity. The rest of the trains on the network will have extra carriages soon after.

Stratford International extension
The DLR Stratford International extension will open in summer 2010, with stations between Canning Town to Stratford International. The extension will provide a more frequent and reliable service than the previous North London line and a direct link to the 2012 Games.
