Transport for London

Prepare to board the Capital's first cable car

28 June 2012

London's newest form of public transport, the Emirates Air Line, is now open to passengers.

Passengers using the fast and frequent river crossing can enjoy spectacular views of London, including St Paul's Cathedral and the Olympic Park, as they travel 90 metres above the Thames.

The crossing links Greenwich Peninsula, near the O2 Arena and North Greenwich station, and the Royal Docks, near Royal Victoria DLR station and the ExCeL Centre.

Pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users will be able to travel on the Emirates Air Line, which has step-free access at both terminals.

Boarding passes can be bought from Emirates Greenwich Peninsula and Emirates Royal Docks. Oyster card and Travelcard holders will receive a discount on single and return trips.

Frequent users will be able to use the crossing from £1.60 per journey by buying a multi-trip ticket or using Oyster pay as you go.

Passengers can use the crossing from 7:00 to 21:00 Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 21:00 on Saturdays and 9:00 to 21:00 on Sundays. Opening hours will be extended to midnight from 27 July to 12 August 2012.
