Hammersmith Flyover fully reopens to traffic

28 May 2012

The Hammersmith Flyover has reopened following vital repair works.

Around 200 metres of the central reservation has been replaced, and the structure has been strengthened so it can take increased traffic loads.

Garrett Emmerson, Transport for London's Surface Transport Chief Operating Officer, said: 'We would like to thank everybody who uses the roads in the Hammersmith area for being so patient and bearing with us while this essential work took place.

'We really appreciate that the Hammersmith Flyover is a vital artery for London which is why our engineers worked incredibly hard, at all hours of day and night, to deliver a solution with the least possible disruption, and as quickly as we could to enable us to reopen the flyover to all traffic well ahead of the Games.'
