Transport for London

New year, new standards

21 December 2011

Stricter Low Emission Zone (LEZ) standards will be in operation from 3 January 2012.

Owners of older lorries, buses and coaches will need to meet the higher emission standards or pay a £200 daily charge, or be liable for a £1,000 fine.

For the first time, larger vans, minibuses and other specialist vehicles such as motorised horseboxes and caravans will also be required to meet LEZ emissions standards or pay a £100 daily charge, and run the risk of a £500 fine.

Owners of affected vehicles can buy a second hand replacement or fit an approved filter.

For more information about the different options, call 0845 607 0009 or visit tfl.gov.uk/lez
