DLR station moves south

04 August 2011

Pudding Mill Lane Docklands Light Railway station is set to 'move' further south in 2013 to make way for Crossrail.

The location of the current station is where the planned Crossrail tunnels end and the route reaches the surface.

Work will begin later this year on a new station between the River Lea and City Mill River.

The current site will remain open to passengers until the new station is finished.

Once complete it will be able to accommodate longer three-car trains - currently in service between Bank and Lewisham - and have improved step-free access.

Significant development is taking place in the local area and the station has been designed to accommodate future increases in demand.
