Sky Ride at Hillingdon

28 July 2011

Get on your bike for the first of three Mayor of London Sky Rides taking place this Sunday in Hillingdon, West London.

Sky Ride is a national campaign and includes events where people of all ages and abilities can ride on traffic-free roads and gain more confidence in the saddle.

Vehicles will not be able to travel along the 9km route between 10am and 4pm, allowing participants to join the ride at their own pace.

Activities and entertainment are planned throughout the day including buskers who will provide a soundtrack to the ride.

Refreshments will be available and participants can head to the 'keep cycling zone' for information, hints, tips and advice on cycling in their local area.

Look out for Sky Ride ambassador and TV presenter Jeff Brazier, the Mayor of London's director of environment, Kulveer Ranger, Paralympic cycling champions Sarah and Barney Storey, plus Team Sky's Greg Henderson who will be taking part on the day.

A Sky Ride event in Barking and Dagenham is planned for August 21, and another will take place in central London on September 4.
